Clifton Park Highway Super lives up to his reputation

Bull is now running for reelection as a Democrat

It was not that long ago the Town of Clifton Park released two reports naming Highway Superintendent Dahn Bull as being a ringleader in causing distractions and disharmony at Town Hall. Bull’s goal with former Councilwomen Amy Standaert and Amy Flood, get Phil Barrett out of office. Both councilwomen resigned.

Bull is up for re-election this year and has held the position of Highway Superintendent since 2016, making just under $ 88,000.00 a year. The reports were not favorable describing Bull’s work ethic, and the only chance he would have holding onto his position is join the Democrats, and that he did. No one else would pay him that salary, nor did he have the Republican support after the reports became public.

The question is; will residents forget that Bull dodged three audit requests, promotes hostility among employees, held off other internet providers from coming into Clifton Park while protecting Spectrum, and has been very nasty to subordinates?

Not wanting to disappoint, his reputation of causing disharmony and distractions in town hall came through again, causing chaos.

Thursday afternoon, Feb. 27th, the night before a storm was scheduled to hit the capital district, Dahn Bull announces on Facebook, free salt, and sand at the Transfer Station for residents.

There are issues with this kind gesture. He cannot solely decide to give away salt and sand without advising other town officials. He knows that, he has been at this job long enough. Will the town run short on salt, we have at least 4 more weeks of winter?

Did the Town Board approve it, it is a publicly owned material taxpayers paid for, you just cannot give it away. This is the good part. Bull lists the Transfer Station as the place to get your free salt. Now the Transfer Station has a new job, but it is managed by Building and Grounds, not the Highway Dept. And no one told them anything about residents coming for salt. Nor does Bull have any authority over the Transfer Station or the Building & Grounds Department.

Residents who took Bull up on his offer, found a closed transfer station.

Angry residents start calling town hall complaining they cannot get the salt advertised, the Transfer Station is closed. What is going on here ?

Now why would Dahn Bull do such a thing ? It would put Town Supervisor Phil Barrett in the situation where they could say nothing and ignore protocol letting Bull take all the credit, or call Bull out publicly, which is what the supervisor did.

Of course, Bull knew he could not do this and it would put Barrett on the spot. Classic example of Bull causing disharmony and distraction in town hall.

Another Dirty Dahn Deed.
